GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG, 17th. June, 1915.
Sir,
375 Gend.
With reference to your Despatch marked Miscella-
-neous of the 26th. January, I have the honour to confirm my tele-
-gram of the 19th. April, an en clair version of which is enclosed,

Naval Wireless Telegraph Station on Stonecutters Island.

Stonecutters Island and the Island of Hongkong consists of a cable,

Kowloon Peninsula. Those Authorities have no spare wires available
in this cable for purposes of establishing a connection with the
local Telegraph Offices, but they are in a position to make their ow arrangements for telephonic communication between the new
station and Headquarters.
3.
This Government is ordering from the Crow
Agents a length of cable to be laid between Kowloon peninsula and
the island of Hongkong, and, when this cable is supplied, wires
could be made available for purposes of the new Wireless Station.
It would be necessary in addition to provide a length of cable to
connect Stonecutters Island and the Kowloon peninsula, and to run
an overhead line or, preferably, an underground cable across the
peninsula. If cable which the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company
have in stock were purchased, the Public Works Department could at
once proceed to make the necessary connections between the Wireless
